A Small Road Trip, a Picnic, and a Concert

So tonight's entry is super late because the concert ran from 9 pm to 11 with an extra jam session at the back of the room while others were putting away chairs. And it took 45 minutes or so to drive back. It's currently 5 minutes to 1:00. Anyway, I woke up leisurely this morning as you would expect from a Saturday and after breakfast I went for a good walk. An hour later, I came back and found that lunch was almost ready and we all ate outside.
We left the house just after 2:00 and his ancient car took a good 3 minutes to start. After picking up a friend of theirs and dropping of the musician (my host) we wandered through the town of Perigueux and had some ice cream. During this time, my phone completely ran out of space despite my 16 GB SD card and I eventually uninstalled several apps. By 6:00 we were heading back to the car to find our picnic area which took some time to find since we were getting a bit lost.
The four of us ate some quiche, cheese and bread, and a bit of strawberry tart for dessert and the park we were in was wonderful. There were a lot of laughs and I kept watching the numerous ducklings swim back and forth across the pond. We were joined by a 5th person half-way through the meal.
And lastly, the concert. I had no idea it was starting at 9 since we dropped him off at 3:30 or 4:00 at the latest. But it was superb. I just wish I had gotten enough sleep these past several nights so I could have enjoyed the part that was taking place at and after 11 pm. There was so much nostalgia for me watching the bands prepare to play, it made me want to pick up my trumpet again. The band directors (there were three of them) were fun to watch as one wore a sequin covered fedora and a pink fedora. One of them seemed to dance to the music with his whole body, I mean he was doing much more than just swaying.
